प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी शनिवार को 8 करोड़वां कनेक्शन लाभार्थी को सौपेंगे। प्रधानमंत्री उज्जवला योजना 1 मई 2016 को लॉन्च की गई थी। तब 5 करोड़ परिवारों के महिला सदस्यों के नाम मार्च 2019 तक कनेक्शन देने का लक्ष्य रखा गया था। बाद में यह टारगेट बढ़ाकर मार्च 2020 तक 8 करोड़ कनेक्शन बांटने का दावा किया गया।
शुक्रवार को जारी एक आधिकारिक बयान में कहा गया, 'प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी 7 सितंबर को महाराष्ट्र के औरंगाबाद में पीएमयूवाई के तहत 8 करोड़वां कनेक्शन लाभार्थी को सौपेंगे।' सरकार ने रसोई घरों में चूह्ले की जगह एलपीजी सिलेंडर को प्रोत्साहित किया है। साल 2014 में 55 फीसदी जनसंख्या की पहुंच एलपीजी तक थी, जो अब बढ़कर 95 फीसदी हो गई है।
पीएमयूवाई के तहत सरकार एक गरीब परिवार को मुफ्त गैस कनेक्शन देने के लिए सरकारी ईंधन कंपनियों को 1,600 रुपए की सबसिडी देती है। यह सिलेंडर के लिए सिक्योरिटी मनी और फिटिंग चार्ज के रूप में दिया जाता है। लाभार्थी को चूह्ला खुद खरीदना होता है। उनका बोझ कम करने के लिए चूह्ले और पहले रिफिल का खर्च किश्तों में देने की सुविधा भी है।

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hand over 8 millionth connection to the beneficiary on Saturday. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched on 1 May 2016. It was then targeted to give connections to women members of 5 crore families by March 2019. Later it was claimed to increase the target and distribute 8 crore connections by March 2020.
An official statement released on Friday said, 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hand over 8 croreth connections to the beneficiary under PMUY in Aurangabad, Maharashtra on 7 September. The government has encouraged LPG cylinders in kitchens instead of mice. In 2014, 55 per cent of the population had access to LPG, which has now increased to 95 per cent.
Under the PMUY, the government gives subsidy of Rs 1,600 to the government fuel companies for providing free gas connections to a poor family. This is given as security money and fitting charge for the cylinder. The beneficiary has to buy the mouse himself. To reduce their burden, there is also a facility to pay for the rat and first refill in installments.
